New Category Structure Implemented After Community Review

New Category Structure Implemented After Community Review

In mid-October 2025, Torzon Market completed a comprehensive restructuring of its category taxonomy following a three-month community review process. The changes affect how listings are organised, searched, and filtered by buyers.

Scope of Changes

The update added 12 new subcategories, consolidated 8 underused categories, and revised the naming conventions for 23 existing ones. The restructuring was informed by analysis of listing mislabelling rates — a metric that indicates how often buyers find listings in categories where they would not naturally look.

New Subcategories

Among the new subcategories: separate sections for harm reduction supplies (test kits, naloxone) and documentation-only digital goods (educational materials, research papers). The platform also created distinct subcategories for regional shipping preferences within each major product category.

Searchability Improvements

The search system was updated to include category path matching, meaning searches automatically include relevant subcategories without requiring explicit navigation. Keyword tagging allows listings to appear in multiple relevant category searches simultaneously.
